I am alive!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Internet access is limited at the moment, but soon it won't be and I'll write more often.

I did start teaching. After planning, teaching, and then just sticking around the school to help out here and there, I realized that it's much more than 12 hours a week. But I enjoy the work, so that's fine with me. I introduced vocabulary the first week. Then the students had to make and act out their own dialogues using these new words. Their skits were great (some of them inappropriate, but funny nonetheless). They told me they didn't like this sort of assignment, but then they totally hammed it up in front of the class; we'll be doing these again.

I'm just really impressed with the students in general. The school isn't much to look at; there's graffiti on the side and I wish they had more tvs and computers and what not. But the students get a really good education there. I think they leave there knowing more than I knew when I graduated from high school. They don't have the sports teams and the clubs like we have in high school, so that's too bad. But unlike my high school they do take really awesome school trips every year. This year they went to Poland, England and Rome.

But after a week of teaching, I am already on break. I am off until the 16th. Jeremy is coming to visit me next week before he moves to Seattle for a new job...exciting! We're going to Berlin for part of his time here, and then maybe a soccer game and some sightseeing here in Cottbus. I'll post pictures and stories.

That's all for now. Thanks everyone for reading and especially thanks to all of you who leave comments!
